💸 This Too Shall Pass 💸

GM Everyone,

It's Friday, and we've all made it through another week with our sanity still intact. Kinda. Yesterday threw many people for a loop as the cannabis sector traded up on positive earnings reports and then rolled over going into the close, dampening the jubilant vibes we were all experiencing.

If you're an OG around here, this shouldn't faze you, as we've all seen this before. Sadly, this sector trades on headlines right now rather than fundamentals. However, we are due to catch some headlines by the end of 2024, and the fundamentals will keep getting better. Trulieve just received over $100 million back from the IRS. They didn't just "file"; they actually got the check cut. That, my friends, is a big deal. With that said, I'll let you dive deep into the headlines below. See you at the finish line. AV.

The mornings letter can be read in 7 minutes and 12 seconds.

Highlights:

  • Index was RED yesterday

  • CRON reported earnings (who actually cares)

  • Virginia adult use might be crossing the finishline

  • Earnings breakdown is in the TDR Trade to Black video linked down below

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) remains uninterested in signing the marijuana sales bill approved by the Democratic-controlled legislature, as confirmed by his spokesperson to Marijuana Moment. Despite his previous open stance towards regulating the commercial cannabis market, Youngkin has expressed no interest in advancing marijuana legislation, focusing instead on other priorities like education and behavioral health. The bill, which aims to regulate Virginia's existing illicit cannabis market, proposes retail sales starting May 1, 2025, with adults allowed to purchase up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana. Despite legislative efforts and some public support, Youngkin's approval remains uncertain, reflecting ongoing political and public safety debates surrounding cannabis in Virginia.
