✅ Joe Biden Begins The Pardons ✅
GM Everyone,
Yesterday, we witnessed a headline announcing President Biden's grant of clemency to 11 drug offenders, which was fantastic news. However, it also prompts reflection. With over 30,000 individuals incarcerated for drug offenses in both state and federal prison systems, shouldn't the number have been higher? We've advocated for incremental rather than sweeping reforms multiple times, but this is one area that urgently requires comprehensive overhaul. It's time to extend clemency to the entire prison population currently languishing in cells for non-violent drug crimes. This must be prioritized as a crucial piece of the puzzle, to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Cannabis Capital Markets: Chicago Atlantic and New York State's Cannabis Finance Debate
The TDR Takeaway: Chicago Atlantic was highlighted by 'The City,' a New York City-based online news platform, for its capital cost structure in lending to cannabis-focused companies. These businesses often face challenges in securing debt capital. Typically, Chicago Atlantic's loans feature mid-teen interest rates, a point 'The City' criticized as excessive. Importantly, when New York State failed to attract alternative capital, Chicago Atlantic, as a public entity, stepped in. The interest rate was agreed upon between the public company and the state. I believe this situation does not constitute a news story. For additional details, visit the TDR website.

This indicates that the implemented legal safeguards are effective. Moreover, these reforms often correlate with an increase in youths reporting non-use of marijuana.
